Weekend Challenge

I have a different type of challenge today. Sometime today or this weekend, find a piece of chalk. Draw on the sidewalk, walking path or side of the street, if you don't have a sidewalk. Draw a bit of a fun challenge so when people are out for a walk they can do a little bit more than just walk. There are some ideas below.

Card Family Fitness

🃑 CARD FAMILY FITNESS 🂭

Directions:  Get a set of playing cards (if you don’t have a set, have the kids make them!  You can use these in a variety of ways.  

  1. You can use the entire deck and set a timer for 5 minutes (or longer), choosing cards and performing the exercise with GOOD FORM as quick as you can!  However, you may be challenged to do 16 burpees in a row if all four Kings are picked! WHOOHOO!
  2. You can organize your stack by only pulling out one of each card, shuffle them, and go through the entire deck allowing each family member to choose a card performing ALL the exercises.
  3. OR you can use this as a great ‘BRAIN BREAK’ if you feel your kids are needing some time away from their studies.  Have the stack of cards nearby with the key. Have them choose a few cards to get their bodies moving & minds stimulated before sitting back down to continue their work.

KEY: (Any suit or color counts)
A 🂱 – 15 Jumping Jacks
K 🃞 – 4 Burpees
Q 🃍 – 25 Side-T0-Side Ski Jumps         
J 🂫 – 4 Push-Ups
10 🂺 – Squats
9 🃙 – Curl-Ups
8 🃈 – hold the tree pose for 8 seconds (both sides)
7 🂧– bear crawl for seven seconds
6 🂶 – Plank for 30 seconds
5 🃕 – 10 Lunges  (5 forward & 5 backward)
4 🃄 – Arm Circles (4 forward & 4 backward)
3 🂣 – Mountain Climbers 
2 🂲 – frog jumps

How Your Lungs Work

The Lungs

Hello Tahoe Lake,
          Here is a video of how your lungs work. This week I would like you to do things that make you breath hard. For example: as many jumping jacks as you can, run in place for 2min., try to run in the snow.  Anything you can think of that makes you a little out of breath.  Here is also a one min. Mindfulness to help you think about your breath.
